Marketing, Branding, Communications and Public Relations Marketing has always
been a corporate function since it was established by me in 1996. As the senior corporate marketing
executive, or Chief Marketing Officer, had full budget responsibility and
built an internal team of creative professionals to support the marketing
needs of all operating divisions, subsidiaries, lines of business and product
or service offerings. Cultivated and
maintained all necessary relationships with outside third party professionals
including selection, contracting and performance reviews. Responsibilities included creative design,
branding, advertising agencies, public relations, trademark development,
electronic media utilization, search engine optimization, information broker
interaction, website design and integrity, lead generation and
telemarketing. Supported sellers by
providing current company marketing collateral such as PowerPoint templates,
sample letter library, knowledge portal, product/service offering brochures,
customized special purpose direct mailers and white papers. Enjoyed complete responsibility for developing, building and maintaining all of our brands including the legal responsibilities associated with securing and protecting same. Concerned myself with building and maintaining the company’s image and monitored its acceptance in the marketplace by customers, prospects, information brokers, Wall Street analysts, partners, industry associations, media and trade press. Our marketing effort had many goals but paramount was to create an environment to maximize sales. Believing that one of our most important targeted constituencies was our employees, we targeted and communicated with them regularly. Directly supported senior sellers’ efforts by
providing client and competitive research; presentation and communication
templates; pitch and sales training. Frequently administrated client reviews
of deliverables. This was both a
quality control effort and a client building program with goal of continuous
improvement. Inserted the company directly into the market
using a variety of approaches and varied them as necessary. Developed a comprehensive program that
identified all key targets with a specific message and customized delivery
approach for each targeted group. This
master plan included separate strategic and tactical approaches and was
developed in concert with the senior management of each operating unit. Supported directly certain business lines
and divisions through the implementation of an active trade show strategy that
was uniformly considered a significant success. Business Development Led the Corporate business development efforts for more than a decade for the purpose of increasing marketplace expansion plus the establishment of new markets, products and services. Researched changing business environments, conditions and evolving technology to keep CHC ahead of the competition and strategized ways to react accordingly. Stimulated CHC’s organic and non-organic expansion through the development of strategic partnerships, channel relationships, vendor partnerships, client partnerships, strategic marketing and other successful approaches that resulted in strong revenue growth; new sources of revenue and eventual geographic expansion. My efforts contributed significantly to the revenue and profit lines. Searched out, examined and completed several successful company acquisitions. Developed new business lines, offerings and initiatives, many of which enjoyed great success and became part of company’s core competencies and brand image. Was
co-founder and participated fully in the development of our Chimes, Inc
subsidiary, recognized as the industry leader in Vendor Managed Services
[VMS], a business process outsourced solution. This included the initial concept as well
as development of the several products and offerings. Functioned as Chimes’ Executive Vice
President of Business Development and Marketing for many years and was part
of its office of the president. As one
of the original architects of Computer Horizons’ Y2K offerings, developed its
highly successful approach to the marketplace. This was a particularly profitable
endeavor, in every way, including increasing the company’s market
capitalization to over $1.4 billion. Conceived
and led CHC’s initial international expansion, first to Europe and then to
China, India and Canada. Later,
developed joint ventures and strategic partnerships to enable successful
expansion and participated in management of several units until replacement
management could be engaged. Was
selected to the board of directors of several of the company’s foreign
subsidiaries and served as Vice-Chairman of India-based joint venture. |
